But when vanilla ice cream is done right, no other flavour can compete with this classic. Moreover, if you like to have crazy flavour ice creams, this basic flavour can act as a decent base. So, why don’t we get into our tasty and healthy sugar-free ice cream recipe?

Ingredients required

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered erythritol or, even better, Nutriplus Natose

Nutriplus Natose

This will be the perfect partner to assist you in your fight with added sugar. This alternative to sugar is a natural sweetener almost 40 times sweeter than sugar. This amazing product is created from the liquid extracts of Stevia plant leaves. And do you know what is even more, better than that? Nutriplus Natose Stevia has zero calories, meaning this product will not appear on that unhealthy food chart.

Yes, I am sure about it. How can a natural sweetener with zero calories and GI appear on an unhealthy food chart? It is impossible. Moreover, this partner doesn’t have any added flavour in it. The fact it is heat stable also comes as a plus point. The antibacterial properties of the product boost its resume, right?

With just two to four drops of Nutriplus Natose, you have already won the war you have been waging for years.

  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Optional flavourings or additions (e.g., cocoa powder, fruit extracts, chopped nuts)

The making of sugar-free ice cream

  • Heat the heavy cream and whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat.
  • Whisk together Nutriplus Natose and egg yolks in a separate bowl until well combined.
  • Slowly pour about half of the hot cream mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from curdling.
  • Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining cream mixture. Place the pan over low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. If you want to add flavourings or additions, such as cocoa powder or chopped nuts, now is the time to do it.
  • Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for a while, then cover it and refrigerate until it’s completely chilled. This usually takes a few hours or overnight.
  • Once the mixture is chilled, transfer it to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This process usually takes around 20-30 minutes.
  • After churning, the ice cream will be soft. You can enjoy it immediately, transfer it to an airtight container, and freeze it for a few hours to firm up.

Remember, as we don’t use regular sugar, the ice cream’s texture may not be the same. But it’s sugar-free ice cream and exponentially healthy for you. Now, let me explain why switching from normal ice cream to sugar-free ice cream is a great step.

Advantages of switching to sugar-free ice cream

  • Reduced sugar intake: Sugar-free ice cream eliminates or significantly reduces the amount of added sugar. This can be beneficial for individuals looking to manage their blood sugar levels, reduce their overall sugar intake, or follow a low-sugar or sugar-free diet.
  • Weight management: Regular ice cream tends to be high in calories due to its sugar and fat content. By switching to sugar-free ice cream, you can reduce your calorie intake and potentially support weight management efforts.
  • Diabetic-friendly: People with diabetes often must carefully control their blood sugar levels. Sugar-free ice cream can be a suitable alternative for those individuals as it typically contains artificial sweeteners or natural sugar substitutes that have minimal impact on blood sugar.
  • Dental health: Sugar is a major contributor to tooth decay and cavities. Opting for sugar-free ice cream reduces the risk of dental issues associated with consuming sugary treats.
  • Flavour variety: Sugar-free ice creams are available in a wide range of flavours, allowing you to enjoy the taste and texture of ice cream without the added sugar. This variety provides options for people with different taste preferences.
